Tom Corboy MFT - OCD Center of Los AngelesTOM CORBOY, MFT, is the Executive Director of the OCD Center of Los Angeles, which he founded in 1999. He is a psychotherapist licensed by the State of California. Tom received his master’s degree from the Department of Counseling Psychology at USC in 1993, where his graduate thesis was a study comparing various treatments of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Since then, much of his training and clinical experience has been focused on the treatment of OCD and related OC Spectrum Disorders, including Social Anxiety, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), Hypochondria (health anxiety), Panic Disorder, Trichotillomania (Hair Pulling Disorder), and Dermatillomania (Skin Picking Disorder). In addition to his work with individuals, Tom ran a weekly therapy/support group for adults with OCD from 1997 through 2011. He is the co-author of The Mindfulness Workbook for OCD, and the co-author of Skin Picking Disorder and Trichotillomania: Top Twelve Roadblocks to Recovery. Tom has presented at numerous national conferences on the subject of OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD, Harm OCD, and Trichotillomania. He is a member of the International Obsessive-Compulsive Foundation (IOCDF), the Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA), the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC), the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), and the Group Psychotherapy Association of Southern California (GPASC).


Laura Yocum, MFT - OCD Center of Los AngelesLAURA YOCUM, MFT, PPS, is a psychotherapist licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California.  Laura received both her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and her School Counseling / Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential at California State University at Northridge (CSUN). Prior to joining the OCD Center of Los Angeles in 2011, Laura spent three years working as a therapist for students and their families at the middle school and high school levels as a counselor at “Partnerships to Uplift Communities” (PUC). She is well-versed in the California Education Code, and has served as an advocate for students whose families are seeking to receive appropriate 504 plan and IEP accommodations from their school district. Laura specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Based CBT for children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of disorders including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and Eating Disorders. Laura spoke at the 2012 annual conference of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF) as part of a panel discussion on the topic of mental rituals commonly seen in Pure Obsessional OCD.  She also has extensive training in Art Therapy and Music Therapy for the treatment of children and teenagers. Laura has worked both individually with clients and their families, and has experience leading groups for children and teenagers suffering with anxiety, social isolation, poor self-esteem, and difficulty adjusting to school and social settings. John Tsilimparis, MFT - OCD Center of Los AngelesJOHN TSILIMPARIS, MFT, is a psychotherapist licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and New York.  John received his Master’s Degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute, and has been specializing in the treatment of OCD and anxiety for over 15 years.  Prior to joining the OCD Center of Los Angeles, he worked as a chemical dependency counselor at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, CA.  John is known to many as one of the team of psychotherapists to appear on two seasons of the weekly documentary television series Obsessed on the Arts and Entertainment network (A&E).  He also appeared on four episodes of the documentary television series Collection Intervention, which focused on the treatment of compulsive collectors.  He has also appeared numerous times on television news programs on CNN, KCBS, and KABC, as well as on various radio news programs discussing OCD, anxiety, and related related mental health issues.  You can click here to listen to a recent radio interview with John discussing anxiety disorders. Kevin Foss, MFT - OCD Center of Los AngelesKEVIN FOSS, MFT, is a psychotherapist licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and Montana.  Kevin received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University in 2008.  Prior to joining the OCD Center of Los Angeles in 2012, he worked for the Westwood Institute for Anxiety Disorders, an intensive out-patient program where he specialized in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related anxiety disorders using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques. He previously worked as a counselor at the Child Development Institute, and at the Boone Center for the Family at Pepperdine University.  His prior work experience also includes non-profit community mental health treating a wide range of conditions, as well as private practice with children and adolescents, where he focused on CBT for anxiety.  Kevin’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT for adults and adolescents suffering from OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), and phobias.  He has a particular interest in the Scrupulosity subtype of OCD, and in the impact of anxiety on athletes and performing artists.  He has been published in Archery Focus magazine with articles about anxiety reduction and the impact of parental anxiety on children’s performance in sports.  Kevin is a member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), and the California Association of Marriage and Family therapists (CAMFT). Elizabeth Bartholomew, LCSW ~ OCD Center of Los AngelesELIZABETH BARTHOLOMEW, LCSW, is a psychotherapist licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the State of California. Elizabeth received her Masters Degree in Social Work from California State University at Northridge (CSUN).  Before joining the OCD Center of Los Angeles in 2012, Elizabeth worked as a counselor at an inpatient, dual-diagnosis drug and alcohol treatment center in Malibu, CA, treating a wide range of disorders including OCD and related anxiety conditions. During her time there, Elizabeth specialized in psycho-education and 12-step program recovery counseling.  She has also worked with the Los Angeles Unified School District, (LAUSD) treating elementary school children suffering with anxiety based conditions, both individually and in group settings.  Additionally, Elizabeth has extensive experience with hospice patients and their families, leading bereavement groups and providing supportive counseling and education on the dying process. Elizabeth’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT for adults and adolescents suffering from OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), Social Anxiety, and other anxiety conditions. Debra Dalton Stein, MFTDEBRA DALTON STEIN, MFT, has been a licensed psychotherapist since 1988 – first in Michigan, and since 1990, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. She received her Masterʼs Degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University where her thesis was a study on domestic violence. While in graduate school, Debra worked as a Behavior Analyst collaborating with teachers and parents to help children with behavior disorders, and upon graduating, worked as a psychologist developing behavior plans for children with emotional and developmental disabilities. Debra received advanced training to treat Eating Disorders, and for many years specialized in treating Anorexia, Bulimia and Compulsive Eating. She has worked as a group and individual therapist in several settings, including an out-patient psychiatric clinic, a residential treatment facility, and an in-patient psychiatric hospital. She is a certified graduate of the Behavioral Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) at the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF). Her clinical work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT and Mindfulness Training for adults, adolescents and children with a wide range of conditions, including OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), Social Anxiety, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) Hypochondria, (health anxiety), Panic Disorder, Dermatillomania, Trichotillomania, and Eating Disorders. Elena Fasan, MSW ~ OCD Center of Los AngelesELENA FASAN, MSW, received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). Prior to joining the OCD Center of Los Angeles, Elena worked as a therapist in the Pediatric OCD Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program at UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. Her work at UCLA focused on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and mindfulness techniques for the treatment of children and adolescents with severe OCD. Elena is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Development at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), where she teaches a course on adolescent development. She also studied Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of depression at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Philadelphia.  Elena has also worked in the Alhambra Unified School District, counseling children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional issues, and at Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena, providing therapy to homeless adults with mental illness. Elena’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT for adults, adolescents, and children suffering from OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), and other anxiety disorders. In addition to treating individual clients, Elena also currently leads our Saturday morning low-fee therapy / support group for adults with OCD. Prior to entering the field of social work, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development at California State University – Northridge (CSUN). Elena is particularly interested in how the involvement of family members can improve treatment outcomes when working with children, adolescents, and adults with OCD and related anxiety-based conditions. Elena received the 2016 Distinguished Young Alumni Award given by the faculty of the Child and Adolescent Development Department at CSUN. The award in given annually to an alumnus who has graduated within the last decade who is making significant strides in the field of child development.  She is a professional member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC). Sara Galgalo - OCD Center of Los AngelesSARA GALGALO, MA, received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Prior to joining the clinical staff of the OCD Center of Los Angeles, Sara was a counselor at Exodus Recovery, where she utilized behavioral therapy techniques while providing individual therapy and group therapy for clients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction disorders. Sara also previously worked as a crisis counselor at Spokane Mental Health where she was trained in suicide assessment, crisis de-escalation, and advocacy for victims of sexual assault. She also has experience as a research assistant at Pepperdine University, where she was certified by the National Institute of Health as being ethically knowledgeable in conducting research involving human participants. Sara’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT for adults, adolescents, and children suffering from OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), and other anxiety disorders. In addition to treating individual clients, Sara also currently leads our Tuesday and Wednesday evening low-fee therapy / support groups for adults with OCD.  Prior to entering the field of counseling, Sara earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.  Sara is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) and the Trichotillomania Learning Center (TLC). Lauren McMeikan, MA ~ OCD Center of Los AngelesLAUREN McMEIKAN, MA, received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles. Prior to joining the clinical staff of the OCD Center of Los Angeles, Lauren worked as a counselor at The Women’s Clinic and Family Counseling Center. While there, she used mindfulness-based CBT techniques while providing individual therapy for clients with OCD, anxiety, depression, body image issues, eating disorders, and personality disorders. Lauren was also trained at the Women’s Clinic in suicide assessment and safety planning. She is also certified in Intuitive Eating, a mindfulness-based approach to the treatment of disordered eating. Lauren’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT for adults and adolescents suffering from OCD, Pure Obsessional OCD (Pure O), Trichotillomania, Dermatillomania, and other anxiety-based conditions. In addition to treating individual clients, Lauren currently leads our Saturday afternoon low-fee therapy / support group for adults with Trichotillomania and/or Dermatillomania. Kelley Franke, MA ~ OCD Center of Los AngelesKELLEY FRANKE, MA, received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. The primary focus in her graduate work was the application of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and “third wave” therapies such as Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety-based disorders and trauma. Kelley has also completed training in DBT from The Linehan Institute. Her prior clinical experience includes working as a counselor at Exodus Recovery in East Los Angeles, where she provided individual and group therapy focusing on CBT and DBT, including co-leading a DBT group. Kelley has also worked as a therapist at the Living Success Center in Costa Mesa, providing individual therapy, couples therapy, and group therapy for clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and loss, as well as the California Family Institute in Costa Mesa, where she worked with clients experiencing OCD, GAD, Panic Disorder, and depression. Crystal Quater, MMFT ~ OCD Center of Los AngelesCRYSTAL QUATER, MMFT, received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Southern California (USC). Prior to joining the OCD Center of Los Angeles, Crystal worked as a psychotherapist at La Ventana Treatment Center in Santa Barbara, CA, where she provided individual, group, and family therapy to clients struggling with eating disorders, OCD, anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. Crystal also previously worked as a counselor at Changes Outpatient Wellness Center in Santa Barbara, and at the Kortschak Center for Learning and Creativity, working with students struggling with learning differences and comorbid disorders such as anxiety and depression. Crystal’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on evidence-based treatment, specifically Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for OCD and related conditions, including Dermatillomania (Skin Picking Disorder). Mary Sponaugle, MA ~ OCD Center of Los AngelesMARY SPONAUGLE, MA, received her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chapman University. Prior to joining the clinical staff of the OCD Center of Los Angeles, Mary worked as a psychotherapist at The Gateway Institute in Costa Mesa, CA, where she specialized in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and related-anxiety disorders. While there, Mary provided individual therapy, group therapy, and intensive outpatient treatment using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and mindfulness techniques. Mary has extensive experience working with contamination and health fears, Magical Thinking, Harm OCD, HOCD, Relationship OCD (ROCD), “Pure O,” Social Anxiety, phobias, Dermatillomania and Trichotillomania. Mary’s work at the OCD Center of Los Angeles focuses on CBT for adults, adolescents and children suffering from OCD. Mary has experience working with children ages 9-17, and collaborating with schools to form IEP and 504 accommodations. The OCD Center of Los Angeles is open six days a week, including evenings and Saturdays. Individual and group therapy sessions with our staff therapists are scheduled by appointment only. We are unable to accommodate anyone who arrives at our offices without a previously scheduled appointment.
